We Are Connected.

Our Synod is unique, and as part of our celebration of our 100th anniversary, a multi-part video series has been commissioned that explores our identity as a synod within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The first part of this series, Our Synod Is Connected, debuted at our 2019 Synod Assembly. Watch it now and learn more about us…

As a synod

our churches join in walking together in faith and service to our Lord Jesus Christ. As people of God, we join together in mission and loving service to others, committed to proclaiming the love of Christ to everyone.

Out in the world

we are helping neighbors and friends, seeking justice, celebrating diversity, feeding the hungry, defending the poor, sheltering the homeless, and advocating for peace.

We rejoice

that God has richly blessed us, and seek to be a blessing to others in our mission and outreach. Jesus Christ is the focus of who we are and what we do as Christians. May our identity and service be a reflection of God’s grace shown to us!

An Easter Message from Bishop Kucharek

Christ is risen; He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Alleluia means “Praise the Lord.” In many congregations, the word Alleluia has not been sung during Lent; it has been “buried” during our Lenten worship as we journeyed with Christ through his passion and death. Now, on...

A Lenten Message from Bishop Kucharek

The season of Lent is observed in the church for 40 days (excluding Sundays) beginning with Ash Wednesday and lasting until Easter Sunday. It is a time for spiritual reflection, fasting, and focus on the ministry, witness, life, and sacrifice of Christ, and is...

Epiphany Greetings from the Bishop

On January 6, Lutherans celebrate Epiphany, the day the Magi came to worship the Christ-Child. The word Epiphany means manifestation.  It is the 12th day of Christmas and begins a season of the church calendar that lasts until Lent. The Magi were wise and learned...

Transforming through Ministry

Our Synod is spread from the East Coast out west as far as the Chicago area. We are a special expression of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States.

Rooted in Mission

We are defined by our focus on our missions and ministries in this church of Christ, and in that, we find our reach around the globe is not limited by geography or borders.

Investing in Stewardship

Stewardship is a spiritual matter, not a financial one. In order to live up to our identity as good Christians, we must live generously. This is paramount to being a witness of God’s love to all people.

Renewing in Wellness

Many of us don’t dare to breathe the word ‘vacation’ around others. But remember that in order to be good leaders in this church, we must be healthy leaders as well. Self Care is integral to our identity here.
